PURGE-AIR CIVIL AEROSPACE
Didsbury Engineering’s Purge-Air is an intrinsically safe fuel tank entry system to allow personnel to safely enter the hazardous environment of the aircraft fuel tank system to carry out maintenance and inspection programmes. In service worldwide on multiple platforms for Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Embraer.
Approved by Airbus and listed in their tooling equipment manuals (TEMs) and aircraft maintenance manuals (AMMs).
The Purge-Air reduces aircraft on ground time operations.
When the Purge-Air Systems is positioned alongside the aircraft the container forms the control centre for the operation.
The Purge-Air System is contained within a bespoke container fitted with fork tine pockets and removable flat deck trailer assembly.

When entering and performing maintenance on an integral fuel tank, all fuel must be emptied from the tank and strict safety procedures must be followed. Fuel vapours must be purged from the tank. Didsbury Engineering has developed an extensive range of wing blades and central tank adaptors to interface with the fuel tank access panels when venting an aircraft. See below examples of adaptors.
Didsbury Engineering can develop any specific adaptors required to integrate seamlessly with Purge-Air.
